Independence day!

This fourth of July was pretty unconventional but that is the beauty of life with my husband, we love spending time together and it doesn't matter what we are doing as long as we are together.
We didn't make any plans for this day at all, usually we know in advance if we are spending the day at the beach with friends or family but this year we decided to just go with the flow.
We slept in and had a simple breakfast at home and drove to San Marcos to buy something he had found on craigslist.
By the time we were done we were very close to one of our favorite BBQ restaurants and we had to stop and have lunch at Mike's BBQ.
Then we spent the next hour visiting the different Target stores that were on our way looking for ginger ale for my nausea and we didn't find the brand I wanted until we got home and went to the Target next door and there was only one case left.
We then rented a movie and waited for my in laws to get home from the beach to go see fireworks at the park.

New Year's Eve 2012

We spent New Year's eve at my parent's house with my brothers and some friends,

Mom cooked dinner, we watched a movie, and had a very low key and super fun night in.

We had a blast playing Fruit Ninja, Hole in the wall and many other games, we played until midnight and we all welcomed the new year having fun and with family!

A very Canvas Christmas

Last Sunday we had our church's Christmas program

Last Sunday we had a pretty fun day at church, we always do, but last sunday was a special one, we had our Christmas program with a musical play and it was awesome. I love to see how our church keeps growing and we keep discovering some awesome talents.

We also had the distribution of the gifts from our "Giving Tree" and this was my second year helping out and it always awesome to be a part of the whole process from receiving the gifts, wrapping them and distribute them to the families that were nominated.

We ended up the service singing Christmas songs and it was just the best way to get in to the holiday's spirit. 

God was awesome this year and we cannot wait to see what he has in store in 2013 for our church and our family.

Mexico Celebrates Independence Day

Mexico celebrated 202 years of independence this past Sunday. The festivities focused around the Plaza de la Constitución, or Zócalo, in Mexico City – one of the largest public plazas in the world. Every September 15 at 11PM, the President of Mexico rings a bell and yells a cry of patriotism called the “Grito de Dolores” out to half a million spectators while waving a Mexican flag.

Jonathan & Charlie were cooking today and it started out overcast until the sun decided to come out around 1

we ate all kinds of food but this was my favorite combo of the day.

Tasha & I ended up wearing sweats it was too cold!

 Our Independence day celebration was fantastic. We spent the day at Silverstrand with the Godinez family. We love spending time with them they are all like family to us.
Charlie & Jonathan have been friends since they were kids and they could not be any more different but they love each other, which is great for me and Charlie's wife Tasha since we get along very well.

The day started our overcast and we thought it would be like that the rest of the day but thankfully the sun decided to come out for a while and everyone decided to jump in the water except for the older ladies and me (I felt old) but sorry the water was way to cold for me even with the sun out.

The food was incredible, we had a great time listening to music and talking, the view was great.
I could not have asked for anything better.

At the end of the day we were so tired that we decided to skip the fireworks this year and stay home and  maybe get on the roof and watch them from there, but we didn't we just watched the ones on TV from NY and some other ones, and I'm glad we did because due to a computer glitch all the fireworks in SD went off all at once and it was a just a big messy explosion so I was not so sad that we missed them this year.
